An event organised by Monheimer Kulturwerke GmbH in cooperation with EGTA D e.V.
The German section of the European Guitar Teachers Association EGTA D has been organizing the International Competition for Young Guitarists „Anderes Segovia“ since 2000. Since 2016, the youth competition has been held in the city of Monheim am Rhein. Every two years, up to 90 young artists from around 30 countries from almost every continent travel to Monheim to present their exceptional musical talent to a renowned international jury and the audience (alle competitions and concerts are open to the public).
Participants compete in three age groups:
Age group I – up to 13 years old
Age group II – 14 to 16 years old
Age group III – 17 to 19 years old
Participants are allocated to age groups according to their age on June 3, 2026. In age group III, there will be two rounds – a first round and a final round
The repertoire that the young artists perform must contain certain mandatory pieces. Up to five monetary prizes will be awarded per age group, in amounts ranging from 100 to 1500 euros, plus additional non-cash prizes. The jury will rate performances according to the following points system:
20 to 25 points: Excellent
17 to 19 points: Very good
14 to 16 points: Good
less than 14 points: Successful participation
The 13th International Competition for Young Guitarists "Andrés Segovia" will take place in Monheim am Rhein from June 3 to June 6, 2026.
Candidates can submit applications between January 1 and February 28, 2026.
